Dear Cornel,
I realise that on Goanet it is very unpopular to
defend America or anything American, and I refrain
from doing so more often than not. I hold no brief for
Mario's Red Republican America, but there is another
American that doesn't get represented on the podium of
world opinion. The America of the secular, tolerant,
all-encompassing, liberal blue, which is a side of
American that needs to be defended. If we caricature
whole countries into one dimensional entities, then we
are not any better than the fanatics who chose to fly
planes into towers.
