Incidentally, the Sethusamudran Project was initiated by the BJP while in power at the centre, with the DMK as its ally. Several BJP ministers held the Water transport portfolio from time to time kike Arun Jaitly, VP Goyal, Shatrughan Sinha. All the alignments were approved by them. The project kickstarted under the present UPA government. (refer Outlook latest issue for more details). This protest by the BJP is hollow and hypocritic, just as the Ayodhya one. Having no political agenda or vision for the country, they are always looking for emotional issues. However, I personally, do not see much gain for them as for one the project is at sea and not visible to most people unlike Ayofhaya where people could visit the disputed site. Secondly, and more importantly, the BJP benefits when it creates an imaginary enemy. In Ayodhaya it was the Muslims. Here, there is no potential enemy. My guess is that like all their earlier protests after losing power, this too will fizzle out in! an anti climax. Cheers!!! Marshall
