257 German tourists arrive

Vasco, Oct 11 Ushering in tourist season in the state, a charter flight of 
Condor Airlines landed at the Dabolim airport today with 257 German tourists 
from Frankfurt. The second and third charter flights of this season will arrive 
on October 17 from Gatewick and Manchester with total number of 550 tourists.
The terminal manager at the Dabolim airport, Mr Utpal Baruah, the commercial 
manager, Mr Balasubramaniam, the information assistant, department of tourism, 
Ms Chitra Vengurlekar, Mr Pradeep Binnar, Mr Jacinto D’Souza, representative of 
Cicerone Air Transport Services Pvt. Ltd, Mr Joao Xavier Miranda and the 
managing director for Splendor Holidays Pvt Ltd, Mr Tyrone de Souza gave warm 
welcome to the tourists on their arrival.
The Goa police band also welcomed the newly arrived tourists with musical 
renditions.
Some of the tourists who arrived today are hairdressers. They will hold a 
weeklong conference for hairdressers on behalf of ‘Wella Professionals’. An 
Indian show for hairdressers have also been organised by Ms Natasha J 
Naegamcala. A German couple, Mr Alexander Colovic and Ms Daniella Colovic said, 
“We were enthusiast to see the wide sand in Goa and we will be experiencing the 
fun and frolic Goan culture during the stay.”
Mr Miranda informed that in all 48 Condor flights would arrive in Goa for 26 
weeklong tourist season in the state. He further stated that they are expecting 
1,200 passengers to arrive in Goa during a week in the flights handled by them.
Mr Baruah said that they have mobilised additional manpower and the terminal 
management is functioning from both the terminals -- domestic and 
international.”
Since the airport will be open for 24 hours from October 15 for domestic as 
well as international flights, the AAI has initiated more security measures, 
stated Mr Baruah.
Mr Balasubramaniam said that they have increased commercial facilities as more 
tourists are expected to arrive in Goa.
