Goa to host all-India panchayat employees meet
NT News Desk Panaji, Oct 14 The All Goa Panchayat Workers Union at a meeting held in Panaji today decided to host the All India Conference of Panchayat Employees with representatives of 1.5 million panchayat employees from all over the country. The meeting was attended by more than 400 panchayat employees from Goa. The AGPWU affiliated to the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has also decided to participate in the national struggle by the working class, trade unions and mass organisations and the workers of the public sector undertakings scheduled on December 4 and 5. The meeting was presided over by Mr J J Pires, general secretary of APWPU. Mr Christopher Fonseca, the national secretary and general secretary of AITUC Goa unit dwelt at length on the various developments and achievements made by the panchayat employees in Goa. He also briefed the members about the developments that have taken place at the meeting held by the union representatives with the Minister for Panchayats, Mr Manohar Azgaonkar and the director of panchayats, Mr Menino DSouza.
