Irrespective of whether he may receive answers or not, Albert de Souza has an
inalienable human right to seek information about the finances relating to the
office of the Bishop of Goa. Interestingly, Fr Loiola, working for the Bishop's
Office, did volunteer on Goanet, some information on the matter. Clearly, Eric
Pinto is seemingly unaware about human rights as per his inane response
regarding Albert's query.
Further, whenever and wherever monies are involved one key principle is
accountability whether by convention or legal requirement and Eric Pinto ought
to know this. Any 'infringement' of this principle risks putting individuals
and institutions into disrupte. The Catholic Church is not exempt from this kind
of requirement in Goa nor even in Rome. Indeed, the Vatican has a poor
reputation on the principle of financial accountability and there have been
many scandals on this issue in recent times. One of the worst was when the last
Pope refused to 'surrender' his banker to the Italian State for criminal
investigation into serious financial irregularities. The so called 'God's
Bankers' in the Vatican have a seriously dubious reputation internationally.

I get the impression that Albert has opted out of his former membership in the
'association' that is known as the area Catholic Diocese. If indeed he has, he
then forfeits any moral claim to raise the demands listed in his complaint on
Goanet.
