Goa sought Independence in 1961, as far as I recall. There was a lot of tooing
and froing between the Portuguese goverment & the Indian Government for quite
some time but the but the Portuguese would not relinquish their hold on Goa.
Nehru sent in the troops around mid-Dec 1961 & liberated Goa. The reason I was
removed from LHS & taken to the UK, aged 11. So Goa became part of India. Not
until 12th August 1987 did Goa become really a part of India, it was on this
day it was declared a State of India. Prior to that there were various &
differing debates and Opinion poles taken regarding its future.
I am sorry if you feel my post sounds like elongated dribble, but if you
notice, those who post small but quick quips usually do so to get up other
people's backs or noses by selecting only bits of their post to demean so that
a response is then inevitable.
But I thank you for not adding more than you already have. This will be my
last response to you, on this and anything else that you may have to say in
future, as I dont feel there is much point in posting responses to you..
