Thank you Venantius, I had of course only summarised my reply to a poster who
had ridiculed me because I had used the word INDEPENDENCE for Goa in 1961, when
I ought to have said something else (I am supposing he wanted to see the word
LIBERATED or that Goa is a STATE of INDIA but this is a guess & probably not
far wrong). I really did nto want to start from the begining with the known
history of Goa from 300 BC when it was part of the Mauryan Empire, to the
present day where we are all engrossed ..........but I thank you for all the
links you have kindly supplied & as always, I learn more each day, even after
57 years 165 days, each day is filled with more joys of learning. Only those
who have Goa in their hearts will understand what learning, teaching and
enabling others is all about. I will set aside a few hours to go through all
these & no doubt be better informed than I was when 11yrs old, certainly more
than yesterday!

You may have come across the following reference, but its worth
putting it on Goanet. Once again must go to the Man to get some clarity on
Nehru's relationship with Goa, and his meta-motivation to liberate Goa. I am
not saying that Goa would not have achieved liberation, nor that the people did
not wish for it. In this regard, its is worth looking at the various angles in
that politik of 1961, real or otherwise. ......
