Hi Mario, Good to see you back on goanet. I take it you believe in Second Comings :-)
Let me respond to your queries very briefly, because the history of Christianity may interest you and me, but would take up unnecessary broadband on goanet and would bore the general reader to tears. --- Mario Goveia <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: an avowed agnostic who also > tends > towards theism, which, put together, sounded at > arm's > length like total confusion. Response: There is nothing dichotomous or confusing in my statements. Agnostics can tend towards theism or atheism. A sort of a spiritual bi-curious. I > vaguely recall that he is prominently mentioned in > the Qu'ran. Response: The Qu'ran is a religious book hence this is not a historical record, it is a religious record on par with the Gospels. If you are referring to Flavius' mention of him in the book Antiquities of the Jews, there are problems with this record and I won't get into it here. Even taking it to be true, wouldn't it strike you as odd that God would appear as nothing but a footnote by a Jewish writer. The Romans especially were meticulous about recording their history and yet, no mention of Jesus is made. Mario wrote: > Did Dinesh really say that Jesus was > "...single-handedly responsible for the civilization > of humanity"? Response: Yes, watch the debate. If you missed it the first time, rewind and watch it again. Mario writes: > Are Christian theists any more arrogant than > non-Christian theists? Response: You're right about this one. All theists are infact very arrogant, an arrogance that is grossly misplaced and very unbecoming. As for Dinesh, I've already conceded that he is an intelligent man, a worthy adversary and certainly made a point or two worth chewing on. What's more, he's a Goan and you can't go wrong there. This will be my last post on this subject as I think it has died a natural death and I'm quite ambivalent about life after death :-) selma __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
