Dear all,

In the midst of a lack of hope for Goa's future, I can write there is a ray of
hope. Besides the
foot soldiers of the movement to reclaim Goa from the Goan land mafia through
land scams (RP 2011,
SEZs, etc.), many of you throughout the world have offered support. It shows
you care. Has the
Goan expat community finally woken up from its slumber? Time will tell.

The good fight is being fought in Goa by ordinary people against the powerful
mining and real
estate lobbies. The stakes are very high. All of you understand the equation:
mining industry=real
estate=government. They are one group and regardless of political party are not
pro-people. In
fact their policies are very anti-people, against the common person. It is best
this movement stay
apolitical and hold whichever government in power accountable to the people.
Better yet, vote in
the right people as MLAs not the usual scoundrels.

I have been overwhelmed with emails and cannot individually respond at this
time. I have managed
to call and speak to some of you. You are strong, refuse to back down, and are
not going to give
up. I personally salute all of you. Most important, future Goan generations
will remember who
stood up and fought and who watched from the sidelines, merely complaining
about the system.

This fight has begun. If we lose, we will go down fighting.

Solidarity,
George Pinto
