As per the latest reports [inputs from Niraj Naik's Digital Goa and
Adv. Aires Rodrigues' SMS service] singer Hema Sardesai will kick-off
the anti-SEZ token Hunger Strike by Matanhy Saldanha and group near
Captain of Ports jetty and old customs House, Panaji.
Reports from NRIs abroad .... and Goans in Panaji and Margao ....
indicate that Siddhanath Buyao will stage some Street Plays against
SEZ with some friends from Margao.
Looks like GMAS has a song and dance routine in mind. Hunger strike
and Hema Sardesai seem to be an odd combination. But then again,
politicians make strange bedfellows. :-(
Meanwhile, SEZ Virodhi Manch [SVM] led by Aravind Bhatikar, Fr.
Maverick Fernandes, Pravin Sabnis, Charles Fernandes, Dr. Videsh Jalmi
and others, will hold demonstrations a short distance away

A protest rally will be held in Panjim on the morning of Friday,
November 23, 2007, near
the Panjim jetty, to oppose the setting up of SEZs in Goa, and to
demand cancellation of
all the SEZs (including the 2 notified ones), IT Parks, and Food
Parks, consummate land
scams all, and a brazen fraud on the Goan people by our elected
political leaders.
The people assembling on Friday morning will first and foremost be
sons, daughters,
and lovers of amche sobit Goem. Our political affiliation, ideological
inclination, & religious
persuasion are of little relevance.
Plan on joining the protest. The sit-in hunger strike will begin at 10
am and continue until
10 pm. But people are expected to begin filing in by 9 am.
Spread the word.
Diaspora Goans can phone in to their families back home and urge
participation of at least one
member per family.
Let us give our all to the cause of Goa's 2nd liberation.
