Growth Sans Industralisation
I read Chandrakant Keni's writings on the way the Arab world functions. I was
tempted to write to CK but let it go as i realised his ignorance of teh Arab
world and the way it functions.
CK is my neighbour at Margao and i prefer he sticks to writing literature than
economics.
And to think of it that CK was the incharge of the NRI cell in Goa, at one time?
All i can say is the Arabs never came to Goa to call Goans to come and work for
them. It is the person who gets lured and choses to work in the Gulf and
forfeit many a previledges in his home country. All that glitters is not gold,
it never is and will never be.
If the situation in Goa was good and jobs were given on merit and not sold out
to outsiders for a price, Goans would have preferred to be there in thier own
land with their loved ones.
There are some Goans who are doing well in the Arab world and have acquired
high posts.
