Dears,
When English language survives and flourishes while Webster and Oxford
Dictionaries differ, why nitpick about Konkani orthography?
In the shift from teaching Konkani to the people proficient in
Portuguese to doing the same for a generation that is raised on a
staple diet of English, some changes have been consciously made.
The alphabet "Y", almost never used in Portuguese, has been introduced
for convenience.
So "Come" becomes 'Ye' or "Yo" instead of "ie" or "eo" and "Ready"
becomes "Toyar" instead of "Toiar"
The alphabet "K" is used as in "Kar" for "car" and "C" for "Ch" "Char" or Four.
DD, NN, TT is used for emphasis on the consonent sound as in "Ghantt"
for "bell" and Konknni for Konkani when written in Romi lipi.
Write in Konkani as well as you can. Language is , after all, for
communication .... not for nitpicking!! ;-) That is for the Devanagri
lobby to do ;-))
Mog asundi ...Zay zalear "asumdi"

culpa
What J. Colaco says about the orthographic confusion is true, So, I
have a request to make of Konknni writers on Goanet. I hope you guys
will be a bit forgiving of my massacring Konknni in the Romi, until I
get down with my Romi lipint boroilloli Konknni. : ) Any help is always
appreciated.

I wont even bother to mention the Orthographic confusion being palmed
off as Konkani mainly by non-Goans.
