Hi Victor,

I elected to end participating in the thread you wrote. And I do not intend to
start a new one. Yet given your very polite letter, I felt I owed you this
reply.

I have presented my definition of the term Goan casteism. To repeat, -
inflating one's ego / resume by demeaning another Goan / institution. In my
effort to join the fight against Goan casteism, I intend to point to anyone
engaging in this behavior. Colloquially referred to 'taking a cheap shot'. I
hope others do so too, if we seek to change our society. Writing the queen's
English from London does not make one immune to Casteism or to Cognitive
Dissonance. Yet I would not used casteism loosely - like when one is stirring
the pot.:=))

In my prior posts, I have pointed out that casteism and caste are 'homonyms'
with little relation to each other. I am afraid it appears you MISSED that
dialogue and the present POINT. I look forward to your post on caste, and hope
it has something new. I do not think I need to line up any psychiatrists to
evaluate your post on Caste - perhaps historians. If you write about Goan
casteism, yes perhaps some psychoanalysts to analyze your analysis would
help.:=))

I do feel bad writing my 'Cornel post'. But in our field, on occasion we,
'have to be cruel to be kind', especially when other options have totally
failed. Consider if Cornel followed my suggestion and sought some counseling.
If his situation improves, would not that be helpful to our mutual friend? If
it does not work after a few sessions, well he has not lost anything in the
free health system of UK. I hope goanetters no longer have issues with mental
health or hesitancy to use it. It is curious that none have defended Cornel's
post, which is the core issue.

Following my post, all are now alert to Hypocrisy / Cognitive Dissonance - a
psychological term describing the uncomfortable tension that may result from
having two conflicting thoughts at the same time, or from engaging in behavior
that conflicts with one's beliefs. (Wikipedia)

You are welcome to respond to this in private if you so choose; since I do not
plan to continue this thread. My very best personal regards to you too.

Dear Gilbert, Please explain what you mean by referring to Cornel's "personal
obvious weakness of Casteism." I do think you need to clarify that statement.

I will make my own views on caste known in a separate post. Please line up the
best psychiatrists you know, because you will need them to identify whatever
cognitive dissonance I am suffering from.
Very best personal regards, Victor Rangel-Ribeiro
