Hi Gilbert
I hope you can see that a few people have responded pretty insisvely to your
post (namely Mario, Victor and George) about "Goan Casteism" and your homespun
definition of this creation of yours. I detected a lot of derision from others
over what you wrote and I hardly need to deride you further. All this stemmed
from the simple fact that you were unable to explain to me and others how you
could be simultaneously a Hindu caste believer and a believer in Catholicism.
Until you tackle this key question and the cognitive dissonance therein, I
suggest that what you say is plain waffle, that others recognize this and no
one on Goanet has agreed with you on your highly questionable wisdom as
displayed on Goanet this week. Surely, it would have been better, as suggested
by George that, you admitted your inability to adress this question instead of
beating about the bush.

Further, by implication of your logic, all those who fought racism in America
(Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X etc come to mind) were all in need
of psychological help. Even further, people like those who fought slavery, sati
and other horors were in need of psychological help. Who do you think you are
kidding? Do remember that, but for the likes of Rosa Parks, who stood her
ground against racism in the USA, you would have been sitting in the backseats
of the proverbial bus and giving your seat to a white person by legal
requirement.

Let me close by suggesting that all you need to do is to shed the racist
chains that bind you to the evil of casteism and that this message is universal
and has nothing to do that it indeed comes from me in the UK ---Queen's English
or not that--- seems to unnerve you!

I apologise profusely if I might have overated your capacity for intelligent
discourse on Goanet. However, I look forward to your fullsome responses to
Victor, Mario and George and especially your explanation of "goan casteism and
"inflating ones resume" by "deaming another Goan institution". Do you mean that
the institution of casteism in Goa needs further support and elavation from you
and others? Please can you try to be serious?
Regards
  Cornel

    Hi Victor,

I elected to end participating in the thread you wrote. And I do not intend to
start a new one. Yet given your very polite letter, I felt I owed you this
reply.

I have presented my definition of the term Goan casteism. To repeat, -
inflating one's ego / resume by demeaning another Goan / institution. In my
effort to join the fight against Goan casteism, I intend to point to anyone
engaging in this behavior. Colloquially referred to 'taking a cheap shot'. I
hope others do so too, if we seek to change our society.
