Dear Goanetters
Mapuca was such a nice place for shopping in the past. Today to visit mapuca it
is a nightmare. Buildings are built without even an inch of land outside where
you can park your two wheeler. Take for example you have an account in
corporation bank and you want to visit either the bank or the ATM. One is not
sure wtheht you will get a chance to park your two wheeler. The bank is
situated at the perifery of the road .To make matters worse the steel yard
next door has been encroaching the portion of the road .Bank of India is worse.
The PWD has not even leveled the edge of the road where at least you can park
your two wheeler. Our MLA takes interest only during election time.Even when he
was in the municipality or minister he could have done something for Mapuca.
There are many shopkeepers who have encroached the road with their mettalic
frames or truck tyres and as long as the people who visit Mapuca keep quiet
nothing can be done. What about the footpaths in the market area ? all the
goods are kept in the corridors. The other day I visited cosmos building and
the security has put a rope to prevent people from parking their vehicles.
when I asked him why the rope is put across the road he told me that it is the
property of the cosmos centre building. I do not know who is right. What I have
been to understand only 80 % of the land can be converted into a building .This
is what is called FAR or FSAR. The remaining should be kept as open space.
Secondly when the building is used for comercial purpose where do you expect
the people to park their vehicles on their head ?
