Hi Santosh,

I did not realize that the persons you mention below were trying to "portray
themselves as superior" to me. How silly of me? Of course they are superior to
this supurlo Goenkar. Ani tea bair they are superior to all supurlo Goenkars
.... of all caste. Why do you not fight your own battles, instead of stirring
the pot and dropping names? To suggest they need your "deep analysis" of my
writings, suggest you are superior than all of us. And why not, with your
all-knowing scientific knowledge?

You and a few others do not like my definition of casteism. Is that because
its description rings close to your attitudes and writing style ... as I have
demonstrated? Perhaps you like the suggestion posted by another Goanetter: "the
tinhorn one-up-man-ship ... whose only target seems to be, yes, to out-head
another."

I was intrigued with your comment that the names you mentioned, wrote mediocre
posts, just like yours and mine.
Yet, how do we improve on this presumed mediocrity?
Does not Goanet deserve better?
Do our posts have to be casteist - enhancing one's ego / resume while demeaning
another Goan / institution?
Does out-heading another poster (with or without references and web links)
enhance the mediocrity?
Does out-heading another head or oneself, present a pretty picture, and a good
use of one's time?
Would it not be better instead of pontificating and referencing others, we
rather ask questions and learn from each other (the how and why) in a positive
sense of sharing and understanding?
Would it help if on occasion, we used humor instead of painting a poor
self-caricature?

Perhaps you or anyone else, please help me understand (and I sincerely mean
it): Why Cornel's or Mario's put-down of others is ANTI-Casteist. Yet
IDENTICAL (actually much milder) language and attitude from MANY, directed to
Cornel / Mario is considered PRO-Casteist? I do not know their caste
stratification, and neither do I care. Now if you cannot explain this, it is
all right. I know it does not make sense. By my definition, casteist language
and attitudeS - enhancing one's ego / resume while demeaning another Goan /
institution - is irrespective who uses it, and at whom it is directed.
Naturally, casteists (with their tinhorn one-up-man-ship) who will now be
exposed are going to object. In fact Goan casteism is a lot wider than what
has been portrayed. And we see it on goanet in full view.

In keeping with our past practice, I will let you have the last word. I do not
plan to continue this conversation, unless you write some new thoughts and I
can advance this dialogue. Like many have stated, I do not know what the
issues are, other than a lot of chest-thumping? I would rather dialogue the
EEOC report on India's economic progress.

Kind Regards, GL

Is Gilbert trying to say that Cornel, Mario, Victor and RKN, who criticized his
creative definition of casteism, are simply mediocre Goans, while Gilbert is
the one with achievements?

Goans not uncommonly portray themselves as superior than another Goan
(specially one with achievements); which gives their mediocrity some oomph.
This is regularly seen on Goanet.
