To Goanet -

I spoke to a "security guard" today. He was from
Orissa and looked no more than 20. He said he came
here to see his Oriya friends working in Goa, and
stayed on to make some cash before going back.
I suspect his friends have an identical story to tell.
Very soon the whole of Orissa will be in Goa. Also
note the implication (for those Goans who haven't
caught on yet) - these fellows are no guards and
they provide no security. They exist only as a
billable body for their security agency.

I found out a bit about the sudden rash of bicycle
wielding kulfi hawkers that have infected Panjim.
These urchins, ranging in age from 15-18, hail
from UP. The kulfi boss operates his business out
of Calangute and probably gives hafta to the CCP
corporators for them to look the other way while
his UP bicycle boys pedal over just about anything.

The pedestrian hawkers harassing white tourists in
Panjim are drawn from all the suspect states - UP, Bihar,
Orissa, Jharkhand, Andhra, Karnataka etc. Today I
saw a Goan man slap one of these pests on 18th June
Road. This was a little before I saw a Jharkhand ratna
urinate on the memorial at Azad Maidan.

That completes the Panjim news roundup for the day.

Warm regards,

r
