  Salcette remain leaders in the Bahrain Goans Seven-a-Side Soccer League 
   
  Bahrain: SALCETTE held CRC Chinchinim 'A' to a 1-1 draw to remain leaders 
after  first round of the Bahrain Goans Seven-a-Side Soccer League in Fr. 
Felicio Diniz Rolling Trophy being played at the Al Qadisiya Club grounds in 
Salmaniya.
 
Bruno Fernandes gave Chinchinim 'A' an early lead with a fine strike from 
inside the penalty box, but Fahad Mohammed ensured both teams would share the 
points after scoring Salcette's hard-earned equalizer with only five minutes 
remaining for the final whistle.
  
The result earned Salcette the valuable point to bring their league-leading 
total to 17 for first place heading into the winter break. Chinchinim 'A' are 
third with 14 markers.
 
Meanwhile, Hilary Sanches scored a late equalizer to earn Vasco a 1-1 draw with 
Benaulim. Tony Fernandes scored the opening goal. Vasco are now second on the 
table with 14 points and a superior goal average.
 
In another match, Old Goa gained their first points in the league with a 4-1 
romp of CRC Chinchinim 'B'. Pratin scored a hat-trick and Henry Fernandes added 
the other for the victors, while Alwyn was on target with his team's 
consolation. Old Goa improved to seventh place on the standings while 
Chinchinim 'B' remained bottom without a point.
 
Completing the table at the end of the first round are Calangute in fourth with 
10 points, and former champions Navelim in fifth with eight.

The league is played under the patronage of Young Goans Club and sponsored by 
Basma with Gulf Computer Services and Union Press as co-sponsors. The second 
leg of the league will kick off in Februaury next year.
