To Goanet - The entire loop constituting the villages of Curca, Batim and Talaulim is so serene and pristine (still, unbelievable that it may sound) that every time I drive through them I feel pangs of unease at the thought of Dilliwallahs, Mumbaiwallahs and other trash from desh & videsh coming in and parking themselves here. And then there is always the danger of ghatis and their slums.
The Chapel of St Simon and St Jude at Gauxim on the hillock over Batim is over 400 years old (much older than the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe in the Batim village below). Believers say the Saibinn appeared here in 1974 (the spot is marked with the wooden cross in the foreground) - http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/gauxim-church-1.jpg The chapel seen from the Curca road - http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/gauxim-church-2.jpg Warm regards, r ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
