To Goanet - Yesterday the Utt Goemkara activists stormed into Curca and put a stop to the hill cutting & clearing. It was reported in the papers that the man responsible for this activity was a bhailo named Bhagatsingh Sonaye who is an employee at the Goa Medical College.
This photo shows the denuded hillside as well as a swatch of ugly development on the right side of the hill. The person responsible for both is Mr. Sonaye. It is now up to the private citizen to save whatever is left of Goa. I fear that the few Goans who have stood up to be counted will soon tire of it given the scale and extent of the ongoing plunder. As I have often said here, the ghost of RP-2011 still stalks the land. The GBA has been a toothless wonder. Except for people like Patricia Pinto & Ritu Prasad, who selflessly give of their sweat, money and time, most of the rest are empty talkers.
