Though I don't buy Navhind Times (NT) I do read the paper casually. I know many staff members and the reporters of NT and I can comfortably say that they all know Konkani very well and are very comfortable in translating the same to English. NT reporters have been translating Konkani to English ever since NT started. In this context what Mr. Radhakrishnan Nair (RKN) wrote i.e. I guess Mr. Parrikar spoke in Konkani and Navhind Times reporter got it wrong in translation...is absolutely a wrong statement.
Let's presume for a moment as RKN says that NT reporters got it wrong in translation, so is RKN trying to suggest us that all the reporters of the local dailies also got it wrong and that all the reporters in Goa does not understand Konkani therefore they cannot translate Konkani into English. I think RKN has some personal score to settle with reporters of NT therefore RKN wrote above lines or RKN is trying to impress upon NT that he can do better translation of Konkani into English than their existing reporters or RKN is trying to divert the attention of Goa netters from one point to another or is it that in an attempt of passing comments on each and every postings made by certain members of Goanet RKN wrote so like selective targeting even under such attempt RKN missed the target completely. What ever it is RKN is wrong in using above line in his posting. Best regards, Dr. U. G. Barad
