The Goa Environment Action Group which is in the forefront of fighting Noise Pollution in the State and the Goa Su-Raj Party has taken cognisance of the news reports (NT- 7/2/08) and jointly commends Mr. Rajendra Mirajkar, Deputy Collector of Pernem Taluka for showing grit in controlling the 'loud music' malaise that has afflicted this part of the State and the action taken by him along with the Pernem Police in arresting the violators and confiscating their equipment. Having endless number of laws, regulations and rules does not help if the implementing authorities do not take their duties seriously. The afflicted general public will bless such conscious officers and their faith in those entrusted with the duties to look after their welfare and well-being, will solidify.
The efforts of the Police as well as those numerous individuals who continually express their views against the hazards of noise pollution are well appreciated. We wish Mr. Mirajkar all the very best and wish to inform him that we are with him all the way in his conscious endeavours.
