I made an error in my original post. I mentioned the name of Kiran Dhingra. It was in fact Lalit Sharma, a high ranking IAS officer who has a house under construction in Goa. Please post the following. Anil

May I suggest the following to all the Goanetters. Land conversions have been one of the important factors in the wanton destruction of Goa for the last couple of decades. It has also been responsible for the uncontrolled corruption in the polity of goa starting from village panchayants and stretching through the ministries right upto Cabo and beyond. Even the congressmen and women in charge of Goa desk have allegedly acquired plots of land.and other real estate in Goa on the back of this. You might remember Rajan's photos of a house being constructed for one Lalit Sharma ( a top IAS officer). We could at least temporarily put a stop to all major land conversions ( say above 1000 sq metres to protect aam admi wanting to build his or her dream house although we could decide on the maximum area allowed on advice from experts). this could indirectly curb corruption too. I know that in the 80s,the high court in Haryana had put a moratorium on all conversions in Haryana for two years pending a report from an expert committee appointed by the high court. Should we start the ball rolling to collect signatures from all the interested goanetters? Dr Anil Desai
