Dears, The Goa Police that Dr.Falcao is writing about is the "old model".
In the "new model", SP Neeraj in a knee-jerk operation sent his "Boys" to raid the two residences of Babush Monserrate. They allegedly went on a rampage in a Bollywood version of "Rambo" where in the "Boys" thought they were men if they beat up two teenaged boys and the wife of the MLA. Pity that the "patra" of the new model is weak and the engine is of doubtful quality. The damage is showing. SP Neeraj Thakur ....IPS and all....has been shunted off to Delhi where he hopes to be safe from Babush's men. That may no longer be the case. Even criminals have BPO centres now. One really feels pity for the local cops who messed up with Babush. They will forever live in fear for their lives and that of their families. It is dangerous to work at the oral requests of politicians. there is no 72 hours or I-pill to abort the effects of such an orgy. Digamber, Rane, Narvekar, Ravi, Madkaikar et al were at Babush's residence in January 2005. They may just party there again. Like Churchill and Luizinho's supporters in Navelim after both became "bhai-bhai" in the Congress, the constables at Panaji are in a quandary today. A Catholic v/s Hindu divide [with two exceptions ... Babu Kavlekar and Babu Azagaokar, as per reports in the newspapers] in the ministry over the Babush arrest and brutality, will not last for long ... only money lasts for ever. Both Digu Kaka and Manohar-bab need catholic votes to win and survive. Isolating Churchill first and Babush now may be good only in the short term. The backlash has begun. If the new mining areas of Saguem, Quepem and Bardez with substantial catholic and Bhandari populations rise up, there is very little the Government will be able to do to contain it ...or its urban support. Patience is already running out in may places. This may just be what the NCP is looking for ...and the Regional Plan, SEZ de-notifications and the Aldeia de Goa case are still an unfinished tasks. The Carnival may be over, the Shigmo is still to follow. Shim-ga re Shim ga. Xeboi, Xeboi!! The Panaji police will really know more about the fleas than they realised while sleeping with the dogs on Tuesday night. Woof! Mog asundi. Miguel Date: Thu, 21 Feb 2008 12:52:21 +0530 From: Dr. Ferdinando dos Reis Falc?o <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [Goanet] Police, victims of their own doing. I sympathise with the police personnel who were injured in the stone throwing incident at the Panjim police station. I write this letter for those injured to know and realise, that the attitude of their own clan and department are largely responsible for the pain they are suffering. It is like the Latin Proverb : "Who lies with dogs shall rise up with fleas". I know of a family from the South of Goa whose four members of the family were assaulted by around 40 people with granite stones in relation to a property dispute, way back in 1974. That was the first time I had become aware that such brutal attacks could take place in Goa. The incident reverberated in the Assembly during Bandodkar's period. Luckily for the family, there was no fatality, but grievous injuries. The police did their usual formalities, and on a counter- complaint arrested all the four members of the family. They deliberately botched up the case by not filing the grievous injuries report and let the accused walk scot-free. The police at that time and even now have never protected victims of assaults but have collaborated with the assaulters. They are seen by and large by the public, not as protectors of Citizens and Law, but as opportunists for selfish gains. Goa has seen proliferation of criminal activity among our Goans mainly because it is easier to walk out free after committing a crime rather than being a victim and seeking justice. The injured police I would like to advise not to be surprised that you will be remaining with your scars; but your assaulters will be roaming free in a few days. Dr. Ferdinando dos Reis Falc?o.
