Aires Rodrigues, Spokesman, Utt Goenkara wrote on Feb 24 [1] While Utt Goenkara appreciates Goa Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao's statement expressing solidarity and prayers for the allegedly injured policemen, we have expressed surprise and anguish at the Archbishop's SILENCE on the merciless beating of Panaji Mayor Tony Rodrigues, the Monserattes and in particular the unwarranted thrashing of their 18 year old son Amit inside his house.
Godfrey Gonsalves wrote on Feb 24 [2] this writer contacted the office of the Archdiocese [3]....clarified that the Archbishop had indeed written separate personal letters to both the Monserattes, the Mayor of CCP and the PI but it appears that the PI had mischievously released the same to the Press thereby creating the ruckus. jc comment: As an individual trained in law, Aires is expected (I believe) to ascertain ALL the available facts of a case before firing away at the good Archbishop's alleged SILENCE on this matter vis a vis Tony Rodrigues and the Monserattes. Mr. Godfrey Gonsalves appears to have done the appropriate thing. Before opening his mouth, he engaged his brain. He actually contacted the office of the Archdiocese. Did Mr. Aires Rodrigues do this before running his mouth against the Archbishop? Should he he done that? Utt Goenkara - if you are indeed an organisation of more than one, please ascertain IF you would like Aires to represent your views before doing the appropriate research. BTW Utt Goenkara, did you have any public comment when Fontainhas was vandalised? just asking jc
