Dears, Recently Anil Desai suo moto answered the questions put to Anand Virgincar on the Goanet. I think he even confused one [Shridhar] Kamat for the other, in the bargain. Being a fellow Mhapxemkar with Manohar-bab, I will attempt to answer some of the questions posed to him. Like in any good bill, E. & O.E. [Errors and Omissions Excluded]. The possible answers are interspersed below
Date: Wed, 5 Mar 2008 03:27:29 -0800 (PST) From: Yash Ganthe <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [Goanet] Questions for Manohar Parrikar In order of priority: 1. How do you deal with corrupt officials? A. It depends on what you mean by 'corrupt' and with which ideology they identify themselves. 2. What would you do to create opportunities for local youth educated in technical fields? A. Sound technicians can have a field day at rave parties, so can light technicians, auto technicians, etc. Two or three SEZs may be revived after elections to employ more technical personnel, either Goan or deemed Goan. Contact the local MLA for details. 3. What would be your course of action if your party's high command expects you to back a communal agenda? A. There is no such thing a "communal agenda". That is just anti-BJP propaganda by non-patriotic persons and minority appeasers. India is a Hindu Rashtra. Nothing communal in being patriotic about it! 4. Do you agree that you could have stopped the educational VCD from being released? A. What educational VCD? You mean the history VCD? The film "Goa's Freedom Struggle" was broadcast on Doordarshan in December, 2002. No body and nobody complained about the film. We only made it in to a VCD so that it could be available in school libraries for those who wanted to know history correctly. 5. Would you prefer having a new airport for Goa or expanding the existing one? Why? A. We need a new airport for the tourists. How else will they go to the Marina at Tiracol that my friend Digambar is setting up now? The old airport can be retained for the locals, if desired. MPT is planning a cruise terminal at Vasco. It will be convenient to have an airport or helipad close by. 6. Which industries do you think are most relevant to Goa and can absorb majority of educated Goan graduates? A. Export industry is best for Goa. We will export all the graduates to Europe, Australia, America, etc. The number of Goaneeters will also increase simultaneously. It is a win-win situation. If there are any educated Goans left back in Goa, we will employ them in Call centres. 7. How would you improve the crime prevention and crime detection rates of the police? A. Recruit as many goondas as ideologically possible in to the Goa Police. They will become inefficient and crime will be prevented at source. Detection of crime, like a raid on the MLA's residence , is easy. All the cable news channels broadcast the details. Then we will appoint a committee to decide what type of Enquiry Commission or Task Force to set up. The Congress has set the precedent, so they cannot question us. Crime statistics will be history. 8. There is rampant drug trade in Goa. How will you prevent it? A. Why should anyone prevent trade and commerce? We will rationalise tax on such compounds. Besides, some drugs are life saving. 9. What made you change your mind about taking support from Babush for forming a govt. A. Arre Baba, one Babush is my Deputy Opposition Leader. You have to be specific. A bird in hand is worth two with George Bush! If you refer to the 'other' Babush, remember that if I can change my mind once, I can also change it again. Get real, man! Did I not drop Babush from my cabinet and then pick him up enroute to Delhi to meet Pratibha Didi? Did Digambar not go to Jaipur with the BJP and get converted to Congress in Delhi in January 2005? Did Rane not pick up Babush. Can you guess which side of the train is the platform at the next station of the Dhavlikar brothers? Politics is the art of the possible. Anything is possible in Goa.
