Ah, indeed. I refuse to place an order for Goan food in Hindi or any other Indian language except Konkani. Can you imagine the ignominy? - Xacuti hai, bhai? Arre Khatkhate lao? But don't despair. There are so many authentic Goan gustatory experiences squirreled away in hole-in-the-wall galleys. You won't find them listed in the Lonely Planet or on travel websites. For the high end authentic experience, Riorico at Mandovi is at or near the top of its game.
