1 ) Why does Manohar Parrikar not dissociate himself from the RSS
and BJP ?
2 ) Can I guarantee that the Hindutva elements will not run riot in Goa
and cause problems for the minorities if and when Manohar Parrikar
comes to power again ?
# Regarding the first query, MP's response was that to him the RSS is like
the Church . Even the
most religious of Catholics do not agree with everything the Church says.
This does not mean they give up their affiliation to the Church. Similarly , he
cannot distance himself from the RSS. Just as the Catholics have Christianity
as their core ideology ( and not the Church ), MP considers Goa and the Goans
, irrespective of religion, caste and socioeconomic status as his core ideology
( and not the RSS ) Additionally , MP said that it was the BJP which brought
him to political prominence. And he believes in remaining faithful to those
who have shown such faith in him.
Comment: This is precisely our fears. MP is unable to control the
marauding sangh parivar in their mayhem (remember Mala / Fountainhas). The same
thing happened to ABV. In Gujarat in the aftermath of the genocide, he like a
true statesman expressed his anguish at what happened and pulled up Modi for
bad governance. But a little later in Goa at the national convention of the
BJP did a 180 degree somersault and justified the killings. Can minorities ever
be safe in such hands?
Secondly, the analogy between the RSS and the Church is a misnomer. The RSS is
a political institution whereas the Church is a religious institution. One is
born into a religion but choosing an ideology is a choice.
Thirdly, while it may be true that MP was honest, can you hold your hand on
your heart and say that the rest of the BJP were honest and there was no
corruption during its rule?

Over the last few weeks , I have put forth my arguments supporting the above
statements. I have done so with the aid of as much fact and as little rheotoric
is possible. It is up to Mr Mendonza and others to accept , reject or suggest
alternatives ( with fact and not rheotoric to support their claims )
Comment: Please point out the rhetoric in my posting. I have stated just facts
and I am willing to produce reams of facts about the harm and damage caused by
the sangh parivar in the country. If you are inclined, please visit Kandhamal
district in Orissa where you can be witness to the mayhem caused by the sangh
parivar. Till today, the victims are not being allowed aid just like the
muslims of Gujarat.Do you deny the activities of Pravin Togadia or N Modi or
the role of LKA in the Babri Masjid demolition. It is one thing to live in
denial and another to accept facts as they are.
The remaining questions posed by me were not answered.I do not know why. I was
genuinely interested in seeking their views and response.
I do agree that the choices are limited. But MP or the BJP may not be the
better choice. Till a fresh and new leadership develops, it is a choice between
the devil and the deep sea.
In conclusion, may Dr Anand and other BJP supporters who do not share its
ideology educate me as to why their voices are not heard when the sangh parivar
causes mayhem, why do they not with the same zeal and enthusiasm force the
party and its leadership to the path of moderation, why do they not impress
upon the party that its ideology is abhorent in this day and age?

Marshall Mendonza
