Anand bab has written I strongly support Bab Satyawan on some points ( and like Bab Roland I think Mr Govekar has added a very important dimension to Goanet , through his honesty and frankness ) At the same time , let me contest a few of Mr Govekar's comments above. # There is absolutely no question that the Bahujan Samaj of Goa has been treated unfairly in the past. # They continue to be treated unfairly , now in more symbolic ways than in terms of denial of equal opportunities. The example Mr Govekar has given above ( about some communities being denied access to certain Hindu temples, in partiular to the Garba Griha or inner sanctum ) is a classic example. I think this is absolutely shocking and the higher caste Goan Hindus ( like me ) should be utterly ashamed of ourselves. # Regarding Mr Govekars comment implying that only the Bahujan Samaj is doing all the hard work and that only the children of the higher castes are getting better studying and working opportunities , please allow me to disagree. I can say from personal experience that in todays Goa ( and India ), thanks to the minority appeasement / vote bank policies of the Congress and the reservation schemes for certain communities , being born a Hindu is bad enough... being born a Brahmin Hindu is the ultimate disadvantage. Without going into details , I would not be sitting here in Oxford and pining for Goa if a job I had applied for in Goa 20 odd years back had been denied to me ( in spite of having astronomically better qualifications and university performance than the other candidate ) simply because of the fact that my competitor was from a particular Bahujan Samaj caste. # And one final point. Bab Satyavan hinted in a previous post that Manohar Parrikar , the BJP and the Sangh Parivar are casteist. That is a blatant untruth. If there is one certain thing about Manohar , he is the first Hindu leader in Goa who has united the Hindu community irrespective of caste. I would suggest Mr Govekar has a dialogue with one of the Bahujan Samaj leaders within Goa BJP ( and 90 % of the current BJP MLA's belong to that community ). It will be clear to him that Manohar and Sripad between them have modelled the Goa BJP in a classless way....not to mention the clear statement made in the P v/s P interview that Manohar is determined to treat all religions in an equal and fair manner. # So Mr Govekar , I support you in your satements overall , but please do not question my " Goan-ness " just because of my caste.
Dear Anand bab I have never questioned anybody's "goanness". I am only questioning why the dotor is asking who is Goan and saying that non Goans should not respond. Is he owner of Goanet to talk like this? if he does not want some people from Goanet to respond then he should write privately to only whom he wants answer from. Rajan bab had written he is proud of his caste which is okay because he is not casteist. He is attacking people irrespective of caste. Also he is criticising Swami and Dhempos. So I have no problem with anybody caste, only problem is with people who are casteist. Rajan, you are good people. Dotor, Datta Naik both of Lok shakti are different. In fact I had opposed words like SC & Saraswat to describe persons. I also do not like words like ghati, bhailo and lamani which are used like bad words. Migrants are a problem, but the root cause is our Government and the politicians. Just making threats to poor people is a sign of cowards. Mathany threatened tourists in December. Why does he not go and beat all the people who passed the Goa SEZ policy in Assembly. he can kick himself first You are also a very good person. who is not looking down upon others because of caste and religion. But sometimes you are writing and mixing too many things. If you show me where I have hinted that Manohar Parrikar is casteist, i will apologise. otherwise you need not apologise, but just avoid wrong quoting. In fact don't defend the persons who are trying to claim ownership of Goan identity and deciding who is Goan and non Goan. If you read my earlier posts I have said that Shripad and Parrikar are the only two good persons in BJP. Also I have said that Parrikar is doing the worst thing by doing deals with people like Babush and not stopping RSS people who are real culprit behind the VCD. Most important I vote for Manohar because he is better than the others but do not believe that he is an angel. Even Mathany who was a very good activist backstabbed his own people when he became MLA and minister. So no blind support for anyone. Satyamev Jayate
