A well attended public meeting organized by  Utt Goenkara at Panaji on Saturday 
19th April demanded that the Goa Government should in public interest 
immediately sack Goa‘s Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak for being an 
unwarranted burden to the State exchequer. 

In a unanimous resolution the meeting further demanded  that in view of the 
double and excessive billing by Mr. Subodh Kantak in the Saleli bail 
applications and the PIL on parliamentary secretaries,  all bills submitted by 
the Advocate General need to be thoroughly probed and all excess amount paid to 
him be recovered.

The resolution also demanded that the fees being paid to Goa’s Advocate General 
be brought on par with other states by leaving no loopholes for any Advocate 
General in future to financially bleed the State Exchequer. 

Speakers at the meeting challenged Advocate General Subodk Kantak to an open 
public debate on the serious allegations against him.

Stating that all allegations made against the Advocate General are based on 
documentary proof, facts and figures, it was revealed that the AG’s fees were 
hiked by a cabinet approval on 21/9/06 while Mr. Pratapsingh Rane was the Chief 
Minister.

It was stated that it was only Mr. Subodh Kantak who could have upheld the 
dignity of the high constitutional post of Advocate General, Adv. Rodrigues 
stated that by his own acts the Advocate General had brought irreparable 
disrepute and disgrace to the post entrusted.

Pravin Sabnis, spokesman of Goa Bachao Abhiyan castigated Advocate General 
Subodh Kantak for his very dismal performance and lack of integrity  in 
defending the Goa government  before the High Court.

CCP Corporator Adv. Avinash Bhosle, Adv. Juino D’Souza, Adv. Jatin Naik and 
Adv. K.N. Mishra stated that Subodh Kantak should quit and that a competent 
senior counsel of high repute and integrity be appointed to the high 
constitutional post of Advocate General.

Mr. Socorro D’Souza , Former Sarpanch of Nerul Mrs. Shashikala Govekar, Mr. 
Mahesh Naik, Goa Suraj Party General Secretary Mr. Floriano Lobo, Shiv Sena 
North Goa Chief Mr. Damu Naik and Prof Prajal Sakhardande highlighted as to how 
Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak had looted the State exchequer.

Utt Goenkara Convenor Mr. Amol Navelkar proposing a vote of thanks called upon 
Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak to gracefully resign.
