To Goanet - Awhile back I had posted photographs of the shocking sight from the Divar ferry point across from Ribandar, looking towards the hill along which runs the Kadamba road. Today, I had occasion to see the mayhem from another vantage point - the island of Chorao. This is a better view of the violence inflicted on the hill.
I understand that it is a residential project for the military. I am not sure whether the construction itself has been undertaken by the military or if it is a private project for military personnel. At any rate, who gave the permissions to devastate this hill? Isn't this area forest land? As it is, large tracts of prized Goan land have been usurped by the Indian military. http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/kadamba-hill-1.jpg But that is not all. We now see that another area towards the eastern side of this hill has received a severe haircut. What's going on? Answer: what's going on right now throughout Goa is state-sponsored terrorism against the land of Goa. This is a criminal government we have. http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/kadamba-hill-2.jpg For a better perspective, here is a wide-angle view of the entire hillside taken from Chorao, showing the shaven hill (to the left) and the military project (to the right) - http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/kadamba-hill-3.jpg Some weeks back, I had also posted a photograph of the Shirgaon mines seen from Taleigao on a clear day - http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/shirgaon-mine.jpg On my way to Narve today, I got a closer look. Contrast the foliage in the foreground with the mountain of debris left behind. It reminded me of the tephra ring craters in Iceland. Now there's an idea for tourism. How about air-conditioned bus tours to the craters in Shirgaon and Sanvordem? http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/shirgaon-mine-1.jpg Warm regards, r
