A minor warning: the link to the article in the Independent is not
Goa-related, but in a way, it is! Do take a minute to read......
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/europe/spains-drought-a-glimpse-of-our-future-833587.html
I have been asking of all the development in Goa......where will the
water come from to service the apartments and their pools and water
their gardens? A bureau-cat I spoke to the other day said the water
table in Goa is fine! Whadda ya mean fine? I am no scientist (I scalp
tickets for a living outside Stanford Bridge btw) but a little common
sense (after a few pints incidentally) tells me something is a miss.
Even with my limited math, something does not add up. To quote Rajan's
Carmona stat: 1000 existing homes plus 700 new homes (with pools etc).
I ain't feeling well already.
But I am a Goan and have roamed the land and my feet are muddy and
there are omnious signs that all is not good. Why? Summer time around
the village ponds (toodem), there is an increase of snakes. Now if you
ask any old timer (to get the ole chap talking, buy him a couple of
rounds of 'kutu') he will tell you the snakes come from the hills
because of a lack of humidity- the hills are drying, in other words.
Ofcourse, I do not know how nature works but.......
Congrulations Rajan to expose the self-destructive mess Goans have
brought upon themselves and for your ability to organize and present
the material. The captions could be twitched a bit.
Lastly, has anyone asked that ole chap who draws.............Mario de
Lotolim (I read a sketchy interview a few days ago) on what he thinks
of the over build? He sounded the first warning 15 years ago. Surely,
we can talk and take pictures but there is no turning back now.
Hey, if any of your have some land for sale in Hubli, Dharwar or
wherever, do hook me up!
