To Goanet -

I received a dossier of documents today in response
to my request to the Collector under RTI. Certified
copies of over 300 land conversion sanads for the
years 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 have been handed
over for specific villages spread over Tiswadi and
Bardez. The information for villages in Salcette has
been referred to the Collector (South Goa). I expect
that that request will be fulfilled in the next 7-10 days.

For the RTI application, see -

Remarks:
- If I find the time, I will compile a database or
an Excel spreadsheet (this exercise should long have
been done by the GBA) so that we have the land
conversion data and statistics for the entire state
of Goa.

- In retrospect I should have asked for documents
for the entire talukas of Tiswadi, Bardez, Salcette,
Pernem, Marmagoa, and Canacona. Perhaps some
of you can follow up.

- It would be desirable to have this data from, say,
the year 1999. That will also tell us how the BJP
fared in the land conversion enterprise. Common,
all you anti-BJP secularists, GO FOR IT!

- The Collector's office said they have another
17 or 19 files that will be furnished in the next
few days.

- I am especially curious about land conversions
in Canacona. That hitherto innocent taluka is all
set to be gang-raped. Huge tracts have been sold to
Dilliwallahs and other outsiders, the deals brokered
by a current minister as well as other politicians.

- These 300+ approvals are all for conversions of
land area in excess of 500 sq metres. For land
conversions less than 500 sq metres, you have to
file an application with the Deputy Collector (I
have the corresponding information for Tiswadi).

Warm regards,
