Also known as Hepatitis A, it is not life threatening. It was uncommon in rural
Goa, may become so in future with seepage from septic tanks into our streams
and wells.
Hep B and C actually kill people. Watch for sloppy clinic practice -
needles and instruments. Barbers are major culprits, do not allow them to use a
razor on you. Five percent of South Asia may now now be positive for B. A
vaccine for it is now available.
I hope they forbid the pointless branding of the ill. eric.

During my time.....
This was commonly done (even in our home)
UJEANT PINTLLICHEM CULER GHAL, DANDO TAMDDO ZAI SOR UPRANT HATAK SONNSONNIT
KULERACHO DAG DHI. eDOXEACHIN PANNAN DAMP ANI UPRANT DOVEA KUDDKEAN BAND.
Put a brass spoon handle right into to burning coal/fire or flame till it is
red hot then quickly touch just once at the patient's hand (just above the
wrist)
Put a peace of 'Edoxea pan' leaf on top and bandage it with white cloth. Change
the leaf evry day.
But you please don't try itnow without seeking medical help.
In jaundice, patient eyes turns yellowish, urine colour yellow too..
Note: Every time urine colour is yellow does not necessarily mean you have
jaundice.
Whilst on medication, some tablets/capsules also make your urine yellow.
Food stuff like toor dal or any bhaji with excessive turmeric powder in it may
also make your usrine yellow.
If the jaundice was severe, the red hot spoon handle was touched twice making
two separate bar marks.
Perhaps, you had jaundice too while you were young at home/Goa, just check your
right hand (just above the wrist) and see if you can see single or double bar
lines/scar marks - if you see one or two then you had it.
If anybody remember it or have it it on your wrist, pl pl let us/me also know
