GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF DEFENCE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO 2433 ANSWERED ON 17.03.2008 LAND UNDER POSSESSION OF NAVY 2433. SHRI FRANCISCO SARDINHA Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:- (a) whether the Indian Navy is in possession of the Lands of Goa Government at the Old Airport and other places; (b) if so, the details thereof; and (c) the details of the utilized lands? ANSWER MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE (SHRI A.K. ANTONY) (a) & (b): Indian Navy holds land measuring 1687.51 acres at Dabolim Airport in Goa. Postliberation of Goa in 1961, 249.67 acres of ex-Portuguese land which constituted Dabolim Airportwas handed over to Ministry of Defence by an order of the then Military Governor of Goa on 9thApril 1962. Rest of the land was acquired post Gazette Notification of 23rd February 1968 indifferent pieces. (c) Out of 1687.51 acres of this land, the Airport Authority of India is using 25.696 acres andrest of the land is being utilized by the Indian Navy.
