Goa should take the lead in complying with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s
recent call to severely curtail ministerial expenses, particularly on air
travel and all foreign travel.
Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and his colleagues are always traveling. On
any pretext Ministers and MLA’s have been jetting around the world. Infact,
Digambar Kamat must be relieved when they are away on their foreign jaunts as
that ensures the security of his chair.
The one person whose wings definitely need to be clipped, is Commissioner for
NRI Affairs Mr. Eduardo Faleiro who has been merrily jaunting across the globe
not realizing that he is no longer the External Affairs Minister.
Goa Ministers have to stop being a financial burden to State’s cash strapped
exchequer by their unnecessary travel and the overseas sojourns in particular.
If the three MLA’s to be kept in good cheer, were recently not dispatched
to Australia under the guise of a study trip the Digambar Kamat government may
have collapsed but we might have still had Prof Gurudas Gawas amongst us.
