Dear Francis,
Forgive me for asking this, since I have no dog in this fight, but given what
is happening in Goa today with regards to sale of property is this a good idea?
Presumably NRIs seeking to invest are doing so with a view to resale, perhaps
in developed plots or up-market bungalows. Should the NRI office in Goa be
facilitating this? Soter informs us that the goal of every village panchayat
will soon be to put under the scanner any project with more than four flats and
one that does not address the housing needs of locals. How will NRI Canadians
investing in such developments "help the local housing needs"? NRI can also
forget about any resale value, since sale of land to non-Goans, which could
even include non-resident Goans will soon come under the banner.
