Sadly, we need to nix all the effort that went into demanding separate
statehood, admitting to ourselves that this doesn't work and revert to

future.

Comment:
1.I do think there is any constitutional provision to reverse the status of a
state to Union territory. It would require spaecial constitutional amendment.
2.Reverting to UT is not a solution. It would be worse than the disease.Goa
would be totally controlled from Delhi - in administrative postings, financial
budgets, etc.
At present goans do have a voice in their future. Only they have placed it in
the wrong hands. Those days when Goa was a UT and enjoyed special status are
long gone. Today we are living in a venal world where everyone is busy chasing
money and accumulating wealth by whichever means. Some have amassed such an
amount that can feed no less than 10 generations and still have some more left
over.We have lost our sense of values and ethics and that is why our leaders do
not feel any sense of shame while indulging in corruption.

What we need is a Mahatma Gandhi or Jayaprakash Narayan to lead us out of this
mess. But it is doubtful whether we goans with our crab mentality will
facilitate such a person.
