I have said before and say it again that goanet is a forum for discussion and
NOT for scholarly debate. For me to check facts and write would take long.
Besides, the location is a problem.
What are thrown on goanet are bits of information. Not "manufactured" but as
one heard or read it. In all probability, one could err. Hence, the need for
corrections. Do we have the luxury of time to write from deep research?
I have no problem if JC or PC challenge what I write. It makes for good debate.
As for Fanchu's daughter, Iona, in Canada, I have met her a couple of times.
Let me relate an incident. During the 1988 Toronto Goan Convention, Iona gave a
talk on Goan folklore. She quoted exentsively from the works of Prof. Jose
Pereira. I and Prof. Pereira were sitting together and after the workshop was
over we went to greet her. Prof. Pereira remarked that it was a good talk and
walked away.
She did not know him. After a while I asked her if she knew who the person was.
She said "no." I told her that he is Prof. Pereira. Here face fell. She ran
back to him and thanked him profusely for making it possible for her to give
her lecture through his books.
One more thing, regarding Telo, instead of "saga" it came as "sage". Maybe, JC
you meant Furtado was your neighbour. These are many of my errors. As a medical
doctor, maybe JC has time to check what he writes. My errors won't kill anyone.
But doc, if you err in prescribing wrong medicines and if your patient dies you
could be charged for murder.
As for Dr. Telo's, I have read about the charges against him. Were they
trumphed up charges? I think this subject would be more apt for the goa
research forum where there could be some answers to questions raised by JC and
also if what I have said is historically true.
