I have so far attended the second round of the Ad Hoc Committees meeting at the Goa Legislative Assembly chaired by MLAs. This has given the opportunity to place before the committees various suggestions to the prevailing wrongs and even if nothing happens after the exercise has ended, one thing will remain, that the Officials of the respective departments have been forced to hear the comments of the lay people and be censured or praised as the case may be.

So far I have attended (in the second round) PWD, Panchayats & Transport on 10/6; Law on 11/06; Health and Social Welfare on 12/06; Agriculture & Forest on 13/06; Education, Sports and Information Technology on 17/06 and shall attend Home on 19/06

When at the Law meeting, Chairman being Mr. Damu Naik of Fatorda, the first issue that I raised was about the Law makers not only becoming the Law breakers but also are gifted with the portfolio dealing with the Law itself. I named Dayanand Narvekar by name as the blatant example and asked the chairman if any confidence can be retained by me as a citizen in this situation. He asked me if I had any solution. To that I told him that the normal norm that " one is innocent until proven guilty' must be reversed in the case of elected representatives to read " one is guilty until proven innocent" and should not be given any portfolio least the Law and Finance, the departments for which Dayanand Narvekar has had contempt during his entire political career.

You will be pleased to note that for the next day, there was a circular handed over to every participant that ministers and MLAs should not be named or defamed.

Subject: [Goanet] Going soft on Narvenkar

Going soft on Narvenkar

Even after being framed in a scandal involving
corruption of a high degree...Narvenkar still
continues to hold the finance portfolio in the current
ministry.

That any of the current 40 legislators from any of the
parties in Goa have any ethics and are purely driven
by greed of the kodel is a well dramatised fact.

I feel that in a democracy, it is not only the party
in power, but also the opposition is to be blamed if
such corrupt people are continuing in power.

We take great pride in trying to blame the chief
minister and the ruling congress...but open your eyes
wide...see if the leader of opposition is doing his
role well...

See the logic...the opposition goes up to the
president to seek the removal of a governor...but goes
soft on a framed minister of the ruling party...

At the height of the alleged molestation case that
featured the same minister...it was the guts of the
then leader of opposition ramakanth khalap, ably
supported by the students lobby that led a defiant
narvenkar to finally budge in and resign...

Today, nobody seems to go for Narvenkar?

And all this assemblies and mobs claiming to save Goa?

First step to save Goa is to get rid of tainted
ministers...but then if that happens..there are hardly
any among the current 40 that are not tainted?
