Wonder if the situation in Goa is going back to 1983 (or was it 1984) all over again? Has Rajan's documentary awoken Goans from their slumber?
To those who may not be aware, problems arose when a priest from Cuncolim mobilised migrant workers and organised a procession from Mangor Hill to Vasco.............and on ply card read "Goans are Corwards" (note, I have heard all of this from a second-hand, reliable source). Before the procession got going for half an hours, the protesters were attached....and the next few days, there were free trains (paid for by the Central Government) to transport all non-Goans out of Goa. Not sure non-Goans from Vasco area or all over Goa I ain't sure. Something similar is happening in Goa (TOI report, linked on http://www.goanvoice.org.uk/. I just heard migrant workers are being attacked and told to leave Goa, mostly in South Goa. An aquintance, who employs skilled workers from up-state.........has had to tell his workers not to venture out. And Goans on the whole are getting fed up with the corruption and inffective government....a pick up knocked down and killed a 9/10 year old child. The pick up was unloaded, and set on fire. The firebrigade and police arrived......they were told not to touch or else.......... how very Salcette!
