Pravesh wins U-7 Chess Tournament
Pravesh Mayenkar from Saraswat Vidhyalay, Khorlim win all five game to clinch
All Goa U-7 chess tournament held at Mustifund High School, Panaji on July 20
2008 organised by Taleigao Chess Academy (TCA). Tejas Takkekar of
Dnyanprasarak, Mhapusa, Stanford Pereira of Vidhya Vihar, Cortalim scored 4
points and stood 2nd and 3rd respectively on prograssive. Keiv Lopez of
Kendriya Vidhylay Vasco came forth with 3.5 points. 20 students from 12
different school from all over Goa took part in this tournament. But it was
surprising to note that there were no participants from most prominant schools
of Margao and following prominant school from panaji which are Mustifund
Primary School, Sharada Mandir,Peoples Primary School.
This event has given boost to our moto. Looking at number of participating
schools we are confident that we will achive our goal of chess activity in
every primary schools of Goa by 2011.
Kumari Sunanda Choudhari prominant swimmer from Goa was the chief guest. She
encourage children in her little speech and told them that she started swimming
at the age of 2 and now she dreams to play in olympic and win first Gold Medal
for India in Olympic. She gave away prizes to winners of All three Under 7
Chess tournament held on May 24, June 22 and July 20 2008 as also Taleigao
Chess Academy Students tournament and Under 14 chess tournament held on May 24
and June 29 respectively.
Manish Kamble President of TCA and Sanjay Barve Secretary TCA were on the
deice. Mr. Pinhero capared the programe and gave vote of thanks. Shri Shravan
Barve was the Arbiter. He was assisted by Anjankumar, Vinaya Parab and Sanmesh
Kamble.
