Dear all, As of 5.20 p.m. 21 Julay, 2008, Goa has a new Governor in Dr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu. His Excellency will be keeping company to another top ranking Sikh in Goa, the Chief Secretary Mr. J.P. Singh who has been kicked upstairs through promotion and who will be leaving Goa behind, shortly.
As Official invitees, the Goa Su-Raj Party was represented by 'yours sincerely' accompanied by the President Dr. N.S. Dumo. The ceremony was short and sweet with not many MLAs and Ministers seen adorning the seats. Everything was ok except that the protocol seating arrangement stank. And when it was time to shake hands with the new Governor, yours sincerely did it in style. "Welcome to Goa, Your Excellency. I am the General Secretary of a small political party in Goa" The smiling dimunitive Singh reciprocated the vigourous handshake saying " We need small as well as big parties ..don't we?" "Yes your Excellency, but I have a request for you" You see, GOA looks very neat clean on the outside, especially now since it is monsoons. But it is really very very dirty from the indside" . " We need your help to do the cleaning" The exuberant smile did not altogether vanish from the Governor's turbaned face, but it was reduced to somewhat 50 per cent. But the smile on the face of the man flanking the good Governor did a disapearing act. Shaking his hand too and acknowledging his presence with the word 'CHIEF' was the end of it before moving on to addressed ourselves to the snacks and beverages spread out. floriano goasuraj PS.
