The "Romi Lipi Action Front" thanks the Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Digamber
Kamat, for keeping up to his promise of naming the Indoor Hall , at Rabindra
Bhawan, Margao, in the name of "Pai Tiatrist Joao Agustinho Fernandes" .
It is a matter of pride, to all Konkani Tiatrists, that finally, the
Government of Goa , thought it fit, to name a Hall, after this great man who
sustained "Konkani Tiatro", in its most difficult times, and who also,
started the trend of writing "Original Konkani Tiatro- Scripts".
All the tiatrists, along with associations working in the field of konkani
and like minded people, had made a joint effort in approaching the Chief
Minister , in this regard.
The Chief Minister had made a commitment, and today he has fulfilled that
commitment.
This, only goes to show ,that a lot more, can be achieved if only, the
people of Goa, ask in "one voice". ie.by putting up a "joint front".
It is a lesson , to the tiatrist fraternity in particular, to always make
"unity" the corner-stone, of all their "just demands".
The "Romi Lipi Action Front", takes this opportunity to appeal to all
tiatrists, to display similar unity, for demanding "Amendment to the
Official Language Act" to give equal status to the 'Roman Script'.
It is only a matter of time. The Government of Goa has to realize their
mistake, sooner or later. The "Roman Script" has to get recognition, some
day.
