we have enough GOA clubs and organizations,, world-wide, all promoting
supposed goan-culture through dances, entertainement and what not. In
Toronto, same thing.... dances and dances. Not my style, i say, because
Goan
culture, the essence of being a goan, is and has always been chistianity
and
portugues culture. Therefore, when an Indian-based parish priest visting
our
church in Toronto, passionately decries, during his Sunday sermon from the
pulpit, the murders, harrasment and the intolerances practiced against the
priests, sisters and christian followers in certain states in India, by
the
two Hindu organizations, RSS and another, ( referring them as the
cultural
wings of the BJP ), we, in the church listened with attention. I say it is
time that the goan in foreign countries do more about this
discrimination..... i would join a group that expressed goan in its true
form, without hatred to any religion, extreme tolerance of all, and proud
indian, yet proud goan. I lament that these clubs seem more interested in
funding entertainment than promoting christianity and konkanim and
football.
