BSNL provides BB but you have to have a BSNL line first. One can take basic phone line for Rs.180 per month rent (incoming only pay just Rs.100pm) Take a basic phone line connection first, it may take upto 15 days, then apply for bb which may take another 15 days. BB facility may not be available all over Goa. Check before applying for phone line. For phone connection, there are forms to fill in and a proof of address is a must. Like other utility bills etc BSNL/Data One has various plans starting from Rs.125, 250, 500, 1000, 1800, 3300pm With usage limit 150MB, 1GB, 2.5GB, 5GB, 10GB, 20GB respectively. Speed being up to 2mbps but that does not mean you will get atleast 1mbps. I am on min.384kbps and max up to 2mbps but I am struggling to get even 385kbps With exception of first two above plans, all others have night unlimited (unmetered) free usage scheme (0200-0800hrs) If you opt for Plan 1000 and if you stay well within your usage limit every month with no outgoing phone calls, one will get a fixed monthly bill of Rs. 1,326 inclusive of line rental 180 and taxes. Now a days, BSNL BB is very slow, on inquiry, I was told there was cut in the fiber optic cable (?) and that they are unable to tell when the prob will be fixed. You will still have to pay the monthly charges (no rebate given) Switch off the modem when not in use other wise the usage meter continue to run and that may exceed you monthly limit. You pay 80paise per MB on the excess. If you are worried about the usage, then opt for unlimited usage plans Rs.750 & 1350pm But speed would be up to 256 and 512kbps respectively but you never get this speed, if you are lucky you may get 100kbps at the most. Whichever plan you may go, there is a scheme ‘buy 10 and get 2 free’ i.e. pay only for 10 months for a whole year, if paid all in advance.
