To Goanet - The remarkable pre-historic art gallery at Usgaimol - now under threat from the criminal mining activity nearby - in Sanguem taluka is fairly well-known. Not as well known are the petroglyphs inscribed on a rock in a field a few miles away in the tiny village of Kazur in Quepem taluka.

This is what we know as the "gram sabha," the ancient institution our builders and politicos want to emasculate to further their nefarious designs. http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/kazur-3.jpg In these parts of Goa one finds old sculptures, often in the open, of ancient warrior-Gods knowns as Paik devas. The photograph below depicts Ghode Paik (horse-riding Paiks) in the hut by the open-air theatre - http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/kazur-4.jpg Warm regards, r
