Sameer, I don't see the problem here. The facts as you revealed are: 1) the woman's mother was admitted to the ICU 2) the resident advised the daughter that the mother died as a result of complications. 3) the mother slapped the doctor on getting the news.
So far the police have been right in arresting the daughter. If it can be proved that there was malpractice and/or negligence, the doctor should be disciplined appropriately with suspension of his medical licence. That will be enough to ruin his career.
