Goa Chief Minister Mr. Digambar Kamat should be commended for having taken
the right decision in relieving Mr. R.P.Pal from the State administration.
Politically well connected Mr. Pal who has managed to remain as Urban
Development and IT Secretary for the last many years, reportedly made
frantic attempts to cancel his transfer. Allegedly he was even
contemplating getting admitted at the Goa Medical College to delay his
departure from the land of fish, fun and feni.

The Panaji Police and the Vigilance department have started investigation
into the complaint against Mr. R.P. Pal and his wife Mrs. Putul Pal who
was fraudulently receiving Rs.147/- per day as a daily wages sweeper at the
Corporation of City of Panaji in a fictitious name.

The Vigilance department is also probing into the bank accounts at UTI bank,
Syndicate Bank and Andhra Bank allegedly being operated by Mr. R.P. Pal in
the name of certain Bengali NGO's in which contractors and others
approaching Mr. Pal, and preferring not to pay in cash were given the option
to deposit by cheque kick-back amounts into these bank accounts.

Mr. Pal leaves a trail of involvement in several scams including the
Sonsoddo garbage disposal plant fiasco but his actions now will be well
monitored at the Lakshadweep islands where he stands transferred by its
Administrator Shri. B.V.Selvaraj who is known to show zero tolerance to any
corruption. While Mr. Pal leaves for Lakshadweep his heart will be in the
properties and assets that he leaves behind in Goa.
