Gazing in the Dark
An exclusive film appreciation workshop on
November 14th - evening 6.30 - 8 pm Introductory session
November 15th and 16th - full day 10 am - 8 pm
at Sunaparanta, 63/C-8, Near Lar de Estudantes, Altinho, Panaji.
The film appreciation workshop is meant to demonstrate and teach
participants how cinema creates meaning and authenticity through the power
of suggestion and what a power that is! The workshop will offer you an
opportunity and discuss some rare path breaking moments in cinema.
If you love film, at this workshop you can learn more about the
narrow-passages of film-analysis, discussion of film, film-style, and more.
You will learn how to develop an informed opinion that will make your
enjoyment of the film medium deeper. The course will be particularly useful
for those who enjoy creative and visual mediums and arts, teachers and
students, and those who like to be at the International Film Festival of
India.
The workshop facilitator is Anuja Ghosalkar, currently Programme Executive
for Arts Research and Documentation at India Foundation for the Arts (IFA).
She curated the Tri-Continental Human Rights Film Festival 2007, a festival
that visits three continents of the Global South. Anuja is trained and has
lectured in literature and mass media in a number of institutions including
Mumbai University and Sophia Polytechnic. She has also worked with various
film projects including Channel 4 and has earned a number of fellowships and
awards related to film and the media.
Who can attend?
Any person over 18 years can apply to attend the workshop by filling a form
and paying the fee. The maximum number of participants will be 30. The
workshop is open to public however 30% of the seats are reserved for members
of Moving Images and 30% for students. Selections will be on first come
first serve basis.
Registration for the workshop can be done at ICG on Fridays, 24th & 31st Oct
2008 between 5:00 and 6.30pm

What are the fees?
Members of Moving Images: Rs. 1200/-
General Public: Rs. 1500/-
Students: Rs. 300/-
(Fees must be paid in cash at the time of submitting the application. The
fees do not include meals for which participants will have to make their own
arrangements)
